Stormcast Eternals? But I thought you played Skaven?

 Well I got the Skaventide box and I wanted my partner to play Spearhead with me, okay?

So yeah, I painted up the Stormcast Eternals. I was inspired by gold-trimmed pottery, so a lot of their armor is white (which coincidentally was what color I primed them! clever, eh?) with dabs of color evoking leaves and flowers, then the armor was trimmed in gold.


The Prosecutors were really fun, I did a wet-blend on their wings for the reddish fire that turned out gorgeous.

I also departed from my usual more grungy bases to do something more lively and verdant, adding in little grass tufts and plant bits, giving it a Ghyran look to match the Spearhead board.

Over Thanksgiving break, I was invited to play a "Tanksgiving" 40k event at my FLGS, where folks were encouraged to bring their massive war machines and the largest creatures to duke it out in an immense 5000 point game. Since I'm primarily interested in Tyranids, I only have a random, small selection of what could be considered "Tanks" - A Predator tank and a Thousand-sons conversion of a Dreadnought. I had a blast, but definitely wished I could have brought something larger to bear, and also in the flavor of Xenos. Since then, I've picked up a Winged Hive Tyrant, but I've always gazed at envy at the Forge World Tyranid Heirophant.  So of course I made one!

Building the Castle Stalgar

 I usually don't do terrain but this one just kept coming together well I felt compelled to keep going on it. It took probably three months or so, but that was intermittent in between smaller things. Still, this is probably one of the larger things I've made for a while, and it was really fun!

A few weekends ago (vague because since I can't post things on time ever) I was invited by some very nice folks to play in a Spearhead tournament at my FLGS. Interestingly, I did not know how to play, but they were willing to provide an army and teach me the rules beforehand! I said yes, since it seemed like a nice afternoon. Moral of the story is that's how they get you - I had such a great time that I picked up a box of Spearhead Skaven so I could continue to play with folks.
