Scratch-built Tonks
I'm a big fan of 28, a magazine about tabletop, miniatures, and art. In addition to great articles and jaw-dropping minatures, they also have put out several different free indie games. One of these games is the game Tonks, the full rules of which can be found here. A while ago, I scratch-build two Tonks for myself, and here they are!
Since the philosophy of both Tonks and 28 is very open ended, chaotic, and indie, I went pretty hard on the theming and concepts for both of my tanks. Both are scratch-built from chipboard, plasticard, and miscellaneous bits!
Here's the first tank, named "Tiger". She's commanded by a man named Jim Fang, with his iconic backwards visor hat, frosted tips, and southern drawl. In the before times, he was a wealthy big-game hunter and TV celebrity; now, he hunts a bigger game: Tonks. I tried a new method of painting for this one, painting the entire hull in silver/gray, then stippling orange onto it, avoiding the edges, to give it a rougher look.

Here's the second of the two Tonks, named "LOL XD". She's driven by Ashley "Slashley" Simmons, who took an abandoned Soviet tank and gave it her own custom paint job and sheet-metal cat ears. The paint was inspired by various scene aesthetics from my childhood, as if it were a my-generation take on something like Tank Girls' punk. Interestingly, this model started as a boring brown tank, but I returned to it and added more theming, which was really fun to take the seriousness of it and make it absolutely over the top.

This was a short one, since I don't have any pictures from the making-of of these Tonks unfortunately. Thanks for reading!
