Sculpting a Norn Princess, Part 3

In my last post, I talked about maybe someday separating the sculpts into the Norn-Maggot and the Astropath, Miria Castillon. These aren't remotely close to playable units, I have no idea where they'd fit into actual game, but I'm just having so much fun sculpting original creatures I'm not going to let that stop me!

So I started with the sculpts from the previous version, with the two combined into a single creature. Fortunately, while I sculpt, I'll often duplicate models before applying blender modifiers and attaching pieces, so I have all the parts separate, sort of.

From there, I arranged the parts for the maggot creature into a rough pose, with the tail and head positioned properly. I had to resculpt and bulk out the chest, and pose the legs and tail, but that was relatively easy. I ended up thickening the arms; one of the results of my existing print of the original version was that the arms were perilously skinny and likely to snap someday. I tried to make the pose really dynamic, like a creature turning and hissing in danger.

As for Miria, I used the same base human mesh that I had cut the arms and legs off of. From there, I posed her along a staff, like in her concept art, and added several layers of skirts. I tried to use Blender's cloth tool, but it gave imperfect results, so I applied it and then sculpted on top of it for more detail. I also grabbed a skull model from an online resource, and sculpted the hair - which I think I really nailed. I'm proud of that hair. Finally, I made some purity seals and stuck them on.

Here's the STL files if y'all want to print your own at home!

For now, these are still off to the printers, so I'll update once those get back. But I had a great time with them! Thanks for reading.
