Predator Tank and Thousand Sons Dreadnought

I mentioned a while back about playing in a Thanksgiving "Tanksgiving" mega game. It was funny, since my main faction is (As you may have gathered) Tyranids, I didn't actually at the time have any playable tank-sized models. I did have a completely unassembled Flying Hive Tyrant, but it was nowhere near complete. So I pulled out some old models from when I first got into WH, and basically just bought random kits online and assembled and painted them without a larger plan.

The first of these in my trusty, good 'ole predator tank. I got this with the intent to support my Red (not Blood Angels, I had no idea of the concept of chapters) Space Marines. I got this equally randomly, since again, no idea of the larger picture of the world and game. I went whole ham on Lascannons - again, no idea what the game implication of this was - mostly because they looked cooler that way. I also began my adventure into kitbashing just a little tiny bit, and I glued bits and a jerry-can onto the back of the machine. Finally, I vaguely knew about the concept of magnetization, but didn't know how to apply it. So I made a harness of unused sprue in the turret ring, and glued large circular magnets I happened to have on hand to the underside of the turret. This allowed it to pivot, and honestly, was really successful. I'd do that again. But also since I don't have another turret, magnetizing it is a little moot.

Also After the Tanksgiving event, I also painted a little tiny turkey onto it's side.

My other tank-sized model is a Dreadnought, but it's of course got a little bit more going on. At some point I tried to get another friend into Warhammer via Kill Team, the same way I got into it sort of. I picked up a box of Thousand Sons, mostly because I love their Egyptian theming. I always had a cool idea in the back of my head for a conversion of a Dreadnought where the half-dead Astartes pilot was more visible. I decided to combine the two things, and make a more entombed, mummy-driven Dreadnought with the flavoring of the chaos marines.

Looking back on the conversion and painting now, it looks a little more dated. I build the sarcophagus from strips of zip tie, but the body contained within is not especially to scale. It's got pieces of Thousand Son weapons on it's Twin-linked Lascannons, and it has a Mechanical Khopesh in place of it's grasping claws. That might be a fun project sometime, spruce this lil guy up a bit.

Anyway, this was a rather short one, just posting some backlog models in between things. Thanks for reading!
